Editor's Verdict

The film follows Jannat and Ziyan as they move into a new apartment in Hulhumalé, hoping to rebuild their life together. What begins as a fresh start soon turns unsettling when strange noises and an ominous presence begin to haunt their home. As Jannat’s behavior becomes increasingly disturbing, a worried Ziyan calls in his mother Nishana and sibling Zayan, triggering intense family conflict as Jannat strongly resents their interference. With supernatural events escalating, Ziyan searches desperately for solutions, ranging from a magician friend to his mother’s misguided attempts, until a mysterious neighbor provides an ancient book tied to the apartment’s dark past.

The story itself is engaging and holds promise, but the film struggles to balance its horror-comedy genre. While marketed as a horror film with comedic elements, the horror aspect is largely missing. Instead, the movie leans heavily toward comedy, delivering a handful of genuinely funny moments that provide good laughs. Some scenes feel slightly cringe, but overall the humor remains watchable and lighthearted.

From a technical standpoint, the execution feels minimal. The cinematography is basic and lacks visual creativity, while the art direction feels underdeveloped and fails to create a convincing atmosphere. The SFX makeup is another weak point, offering little in terms of horror impact and reducing the effectiveness of the supernatural elements.

Performances, however, stand out as one of the film’s strengths. Majoo, Sharaf, and Sheila deliver well-executed performances that help carry the film and enhance its comedic appeal. Their timing and screen presence add charm to an otherwise uneven production.

In the end, the film works best as a casual comedy rather than a true horror-comedy. It offers a good laugh but falls short in effort and execution, especially in delivering fear or tension. While not a standout cinematic experience, it remains a light, entertaining watch for audiences seeking humor over horror.
