Mohamed Niyaz, widely known in the Maldivian film industry by his professional name Tedry, is a filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, and editor with over three decades of experience in Maldivian cinema. He began his career in the industry as a trainee producer at Television Maldives before establishing his own production company, Eternal Pictures, through which he has been involved in a variety of film and television projects spanning multiple genres. 

Tedry made a notable early impact with the 1994 romantic drama Dheriyaa, which he directed and wrote. The film received positive reviews from critics and was commercially successful, holding the distinction of being one of the first Maldivian films to achieve significant box office returns and winning multiple awards at the Gaumee Film Awards. 

Over the years, he has created and directed television series such as Salhi Baisaa, a comedy drama that aired on Television Maldives and became well known during its run in the early 1990s. 

In 2024, Tedry directed the feature film Lasviyas, which premiered at the Olympus Theatre and starred actors including Zoya Hassan Ibrahim, Washiya Mohamed, and Mohamed Ahmed Easa. 

In addition to narrative filmmaking, Niyaz has worked on socially themed projects, including Bithufangi, a short film addressing issues such as corruption and personal struggle, which further illustrates his breadth as a filmmaker engaging with diverse subject matter. 

Tedry has also served in roles such as a judge for the Dhivehi Film Awards, contributing his experience to the evaluation of contemporary Maldivian films and filmmakers. 

Throughout his career, Mohamed Niyaz (Tedry) has been active in multiple aspects of production and direction, shaping various facets of Maldivian visual storytelling.
